***** POPULARITY POLL RESULTS

I received back and tabulated 41 of the forms includ- ed in the last issue. Many obviously forgot to return theirs, but I think that the ones who did provided a big enough sampling to give useful results. Some of those that did make returns either had not read certain items because for example they might have been in No. 1 and the person reporting did not get No.1. Some did not apparently know quite how to vote on specific items and left them blank. These factors were taken into consideration in ev- aluating results.

So

The poll asked that each item be graded A thru E. I went over the returns and assigned the values 5,4,3,2,1 to the grades of A, B, C, D, E, respectively. I then added these points up. Since there were 41 returns if any one item had gotten an A on every one the maximum possible points would have been 5 x 41 or 205. At the same time some returns were not complete on specific items. The se were noted as blanks, and the total blanks for a specific item counted and multiplied by 5. This figure then was subtracted from 205 to give the maximum figure that could have been attained if all those who voted at all on that item had rated it A. Finally the actual points divided by the corrected possible total points for the item gives the result as a percentage. These results are tabulated on the next page.

As Editor I am particularly pleased with the results because they very broadly approve my choice of what mater- ial I thought would be interesting and thereby tacitly in- dicate that the greater number of you have very much the same viewpoint and interests that I have myself. This of course is pleasing to one personally, but more than that it is important because it makes my job much easier than if I had to be forever throwing in a little of this for this group and a little of that for the other group. I can further feel that since I am apparently being able to satisfy most readers wants that most of you will stay with
